Engaging Community though Culture and History
We would love to document and archive historical photographs, artifacts, and stories not only of the Gold Rush, the railways, but stemming far back to the Indigenous peoples history. Producing postcards, greeting cards and calendars by reproducing some images from our shared history is the main focus of the project. These items will then be sold in order to re-coup some the printing costs and as a fundraiser for our organization in order to continue to maintain our hall and provide recreational and social activities. All images and stories will be archived through video recording, with an end goal of a public multi media heritage presentation site.
Gathering all interested community members together to share in the learning of the history will engage the community and promote volunteerism!
With an understanding of history and culture comes an acceptance of the current residents, and that can’t help but improve our community!
